When you visit DICE CON, have you noticed the public welfare area? There, a paper spaceship floats on the exhibition wall, standing alone. 

Friends who have played the game may know that this is an environmentally friendly board game jointly launched by DICE and Greenpeace -"Spaceship Earth". The packaging of the game comes from a pulp egg carton, and the printing paper is FSC forest certified...Of course, if you dig deeper into the game, you can get more surprises.

An environmentally friendly co-creation board game

"Spaceship Earth" is a board game about environmental protection. In the game, you will be the ministers of economy, comfort, environment, and civilization respectively, and you will decide the development of the earth as the captain of the spacecraft Earth. Each card covers the real problems the Earth has encountered. How to maintain the ecological balance before arriving in the new home? Your characters still have a long way to go. 

In the previous article, the metaphor of Fuller’s spaceship is the concept of the entire game: humans have not yet realized the importance of collaboration and consensus, so we hope to share information and promote collaboration through the rules and content of the game. 

At the same time, the game itself is a case of collaboration: this is a game not for sale. It realizes an open game scene, fully mobilizes, and benefits more communities in the process of game design, distribution, and use, and spreads the concept of action.

Players’ feedbacks surprised us

" Spaceship Earth" made its debut in DICE CON this year. We know that only a board game that has undergone player evaluation is a qualified board game. Therefore, a trial area was set up on the scene, and there is a dedicated staff to collect player feedback.

In the collected questionnaires, most players who participated in the game test felt the seriousness of the ecological crisis, and "human issues that require mutual cooperation and checks and balances" revealed in the game has also been recognized by most players.

The following is a comment from some players: "It's a very fun game, I hope crowdfunding early." "By playing games together and entering the same scene, it's really an excellent way to break the ice and start discussions between strangers (one of them)!" "Seeing that everyone is immersed in the setting of the game and discussing and thinking, I no longer feel that environmental protection is irrelevant. I am very gratified!" "The public attribute of this game is very strong, and it can easily remove people from an unfamiliar and embarrassing state. Quickly bring into the context of serious public welfare discussion, and make people feel comfortable: I am doing a good thing."

So, why should we crowdfund?

The original intention of "Spaceship Earth" is to let people experience the close relationship between their decisions and climate change through gamification, and to understand the meaning of low-carbon life and recycling. The first printed samples are used for player experience on DICE CON, and are used as exchange goods in the "Game Loop" project to support children's educational activities in Daliang Mountain.

After getting a good response, we hope to achieve mass production in the future, put "Spaceship Earth" into more environmental protection public welfare activities, and create a green ecological environment with more people. Therefore, we hope to use the form of crowdfunding to raise funds, expand our influence, and gain more enthusiastic support from people on the planet.
